'36 Pickup Door Glass

Hi

I am about to cut some templates for my '36 pickup doors. Started to take some measuremnets and dig out the old runners and noticed that the recess closer to the door handles is set much deeper than the hinged front end but then it reverses as the glass winds down below the opening?

Does anyone have the maximum width of the door glass to give me a clue where to start please.

Thanks
Keith

Hope this helps.

The glass leaves a gap at the front until it is to the top and then moves forward with the last crank to close. The deep channel in back is to allow that. It is a nice vent window.

Finished the templates today, cut to the pattern posted by Don. They only wind down halfway, is that right? Took the regulators out to check they were not jamming but looks ok.

I'm not familiar with that specific year, but normally front windows will drop all the way down. How else are you going to cruise with your elbow on the sill?

Mart.

Exactly Mart!! I'll end up with a dislocation!!

I will post some pics tomorrow, maybe someone will spot the problem.

keeeef- Mine will do the same thing sometimes. I think it is due to the lack felt or whiskers in the lower channel. Mine are bare metal and there are some blocks that should be in there to control rattling. I don't have those either. Try winding it down and look and see where it it is binding. I'll bet it's right at the top of the rear channel. That is where mine will catch. I just grab the top of my window and shake it a bit while using the window crank. It gets past that hitch and goes all the way down. Good luck, I like the looks of your truck.

I had a 37 pickup years ago that I broke the driver's door window, shutting the door with the window only half way down.

I learned, on a '35-'36-'37 pickup, to always have the windows either all the way UP or all the way DOWN whenever you close that door!!

Think I may have put the drivers side glass channel on the passenger regulator and vice versa. Should have marked them when I took them apart to clean and re-grease!!
