...did ford sell these any other way?
maybe, i even hope so. engine is 221 not sure about crank bearings on it. it seems like someone played with it a bit at some point though. i meant to quote "verytangled"i'll try again,
maybe, i even hope so.
thanks for the welcome! i think you're the first. the coupe's not quite mine yet, but it should be after this weekend. fingers crossed.fordnut
Welcome to the ford barn. I like your coupe, I had one in the late 1960's.
Mine had a Columbia two speed and a mercury engine with glass pacs.
Dark gray primer and bucket seats.
Lots of fun.

agreed. i'v been staring at em' long enough. time to take the plunge! the bummer is i'v got a 40 project less than half way through. going to be hard to stay focused.ford nut, it sounds perfect then! 36 Coupes are sexy as hell!
that was the plan, 875 mile round trip, rented a car hauler form u-haul, went to the guys shop and the pics he sent did not show the floors enough. the firewall had also had the dreaded battery mod done to it with a torch. he said he had the title, but when i showed up, he said he couldn't find it. he lowered the price a bit, but not enough for me to deal with all he dumped on me. i think he thought that after driving all that way, renting the trailer, i wouldn't leave without it. i was there 3 hours, and u-haul didn't charge me, so that was great,i just burned a lot of gas. oddly enough, i still had fun. i'm not done yet. This is going to be a fun project car.. Are you going to hot rod it?

indeed. last summer, he wanted 12k, I had 10.5k so it didn't happen. didn't see the car on CL for over a year. then it showed up again, but at 18k!! he didn't do one thing to it. I asked about the huge price difference, and told him I would like to offer the same price as last summer. he said with me, he would go 14k, I said I need lots of good pictures then. he sent some but it took forever. I said firewall and floors were what I really wanted to see. they were good enough that I headed up there, let this be a lesson that you've got to see things in person! we all know that though, right? I offered him 10k, he said he would take the 12k from last summer when I was up there, but the car was buried in junk, I couldn't see the whole thing. I said I would not pay the 12k even from last summer now that I've seen the floors, and left. that the story on this one! i'll work on my 40 coupe, and my 56 big window for now. maybe it's a blessing? who knows. . . .Well that sucks..... Too bad he could not have been more honest with you - but you did the right thing. I think I would have given him a half-price offer and then rolled if he passed on it..
