They are not tailpipe hangers. I am quite certain they ae OEM, there is a right and left. Not "homemade".

I somewhat remember they were in the front,and perhaps were used to support the lower pan (missing). Or perhaps to steady the inner fenders.

I lost my bet. I figured a correct answer by the late news!

I have learned alot from this forum, and find it a wealth of information.:)

I went out and looked under my '36 and there they are. That is the left front shock. There is another on the other side.

I believe them to be the brackets that hold the rear of the pan that goes beneath the grill on a 36 and a 37 pickup. The front of the pan bolts to the bottom of the grill.

Not trying to hijack this thread.
just a Question for:
Lawson / 36Bill
Lawson As you are gathering Info for your book I am trying to gather Info about the Shocks,
1928 through 1948.
And in no way is this pointing fingers @ 36 Bill , Because we know that different year shocks fit different year vehicles.{ Some PREFORM better then original }
ok that being said Is that the correct shock for the 36 pickup,I thought the cover was of a sweged sealed style or are they different for Pickup applications?

36Bill may I use that Picture for my research?

Bill W,

The front shocks that were on my '36 were frozen with broken links. The shocks on the front I got with a box of parts and they fit so I put them on. I never had any working shocks until then and what a difference they made. I will send you pics if you want for your project.
