I currently have my 36 Humpback torn apart in order to change differential
gears. While I'm there I want to replace the clutch disk/pressure plate, pilot
bearing and thowout bearing. Here's my dilemma. There is a half circle cut
out at about one o'clock in the bell housing. I assume this is there to allow
a socket to be able to be used to remove each one of the six bolts that secure
the pressure plate to the flywheel as the engine is slowly rotated. However, once that is accomplished there doesn't appear to be enough clearance in the bell housing to allow for the diameter of the pressure plate
to pass through it. It doesn't make sense that the pan would have to be
dropped to accomplish this task. Any help and or suggestions will be greatly
appreciated.
