My 36 is due for a clutch replacement. It's had clutch chatter problems for a while. I would like to have the flywheel resurfaced at the same time . This has the lip on the clutch side . can they resurface it with this lip. what are the pros and cons of removing this lip.

I usually remove that lip, it take about 10# of the wheel. Yes, any flywheel grinder can face the wheel without removeing the lip. Best to have the wheel and pressure plate balanced before installing it. Walt

I've had several 35 flywheels resurfaced that had the lip. I recall one thread here where mention was made that the FW lip may help keep motor oil from getting on the clutch surface. This could be true, especially on these early engines that did not have a rear main seal.
