36 Dome Light Removal

I need to replace the dome light bulb and am not sure how to remove the dome to do this. I don't want to do it wrong and break it.

If its the original one there is a snap ring that holds the lens in.I use the dental tool that ACE Hdwe sells to pop the ring out.
 
Thanks for the reply! I see that there is a little indintation is that where you pop it off? To my knowledge it is the original. Does the outer brown ring snap off from prying where the indintation is?
 
The snap ring is about the diameter of a coat hanger and goes in a groove in the base to hold in the lense. The dental hook goes at the end of the snap ring and carefully pull it towards the center and hold on to the lense, because it is milk colored glass. The base you refer to is attached behind the lense by wood screws into the top bow support for the light. You do need to pry on that base.
