Does anybody know what a working spare tire lock assembly for a 35 Ford is worth?

How do you post pics?

I gave $50 for a pretty nice one at an auction last year. No key, but my neighbor is a locksmith, so hopefully, he can hook me up.
Good Luck!

Along with the '33 locking cap, the '35 locking caps seem to have enjoyed a high survival rate relative to the evident demand for them today. In other words there a lot of them around and they are slow sellers compared to the '32 and '34 locking caps. If you price it for much more than $60-$70, you may own it for a long time.

Bob, some of those '35 spare tire lock cylinders will have a code number that a key could be cut to. This number could be on the side of the cylinder or possibly on the parts at the back of the cylinder that hold the three spring loaded locking bars/shafts in place. To get the back of the cylinder apart, you will need to cut a screwdriver slot in the head of a small screw (looks like a rivet head) to remove that screw and a brass piece that looks like a washer.

It's also worth more if it's complete with the 2 attaching straps, 1 bolts to the cap the other bolts to the spare wheel bracket.

Is it for a pickup or sedan? The two are different you know. On sedan small strap comes off at 6:00 where the one for the pickup comes off at about 4:00. Those for pickup will go a little higher as they are not as much in demand.

I have a lock but lost the key. 1935 Ford Sedan. The serial number on the key cylinder read "FV920". Anyone know where I can get a key or have one made. Fellow in South FLA said he could make me one, using blank I had bought from Macs Antique Auto. No luck.
Do you still have that lock and key? If so, how much?

joebatsarm....If you cannot get your key cut locally, I can cut a key(FV920) for you.
You can call me @ 845 457 3546 if you have any questions.

Leon Rowell in Montezuma, Iowa 641 623 1957 can cut a key from the code. Good man, great work and fast turn around. He can do anything related to keys and locks on old Fords. I have used him several times.

Barn member '32phil' is a highly qualified locksmith and can create keys for locks missing keys where the code is unknown without harming the locks or the surrounding surface in deck lid handles, etc.
