Description

Restored one-of-six 1935 Ford roadster utility for sale on Hemmings.com. From the seller’s description: This 1935 Ford Roadster Utility “ute” is one of only 6 manufactured that year. From a contact in Australia we found out that approximately 385 “utes” were manufactured by Ford Australia in 1935. Of that number , only 7 were Roadster…

Whomever you are dealing with OR getting your information from is "their" tail, I'm sitting on mine!!!! It's not one of one!!! It's at least one of three wellsides!!! BUT there were 364 wellside Ute's produced in total for 1935. Petehoovie's post above is one of 8 or 9 combined 1935 Utes that I know of....The one above and mine pictured are two of them, smoothsides. Danny Appleyard here on the barn has one as well

The blue one doesn't appear to be the "real deal" roadster??
It is the "real deal" standard roadster Ute. I saw the car personally back in 2005 when Ron Thorne in Utah owned it. I also knew one of the few guys that helped with it's restoration. A few "liberties" were taken in the "reconstruction" of the bed area and tail gate BUT the rest of the car is all original. The Ute's were actually shorter than the standard roadster SO...the doors and top are shorter than what you are probably use to seeing and are noticing about the car!!

Now I took a better look. The side curtain is covering up the front of the door. I spoke without thinking, again! LOL

Only just saw this post now. Yes the Aussie Utes are pretty rare with approximately 500 combined well side and smooth side roadster Utes and 500 odd coupe Utes total production for 1935. Mine has been a very long collection of parts over the years. The information about the shorter doors is correct. They did that in order for the spare tyre to fit between the door opening and the rear fender. There aren’t too many on the road here .
I pretty much have everything to build roadster Ute except time! Dan

1935 - 1936 Ford Roadster/Roadster Ute Doors compared.
As mentioned, the Roadster Ute doors are shorter than the Roadster Doors.
That was done to clear the side mounted spare wheel.

A few old black and white Ute photos I’ve found over the years.
