35 pass car spedo ?

dave m. .....................
The Deluxe cars have the Ford script plus four rollers in the odometer. The Standard cars do not have the Ford script and only three rollers in the odometer.
Your answer depends on what you have.

according to '35-'36 book, no Ford logo on the '35 to early '36 speedos....as Mike said above, 3 digit trip odometer for standard and 4 digit trip odometer for deluxe....Mike

I stand corrected. No FORD script in 1935. I was up late and was not thinking clearly, BUT, I see that you were up later than me, so that's a poor excuse.

I have a 35 speedometer that is Standard with 3 digit trip odometer with Waltham on the face. I have two other 35 Deluxe speedometers with no Ford script or other markings, while the design is the same as the Waltham. My 36 Ford has a Standard speedometer with Ford script and is a Stewart Warner design.

Note that all 35 Ford speedometers and gauges have satin finish on gauge glass cover, while all 36 Ford speedometers and gauges are bright chrome finish.

Thanks.

I think it more depends on who made it,there may have been more manufactuers than SW and Waltham for them?? ken ct.

Ken ct-

I used to rebuilt these things and over the years I came across at least four different speedometer manufactures used by Ford in '35 (the most common seemed to be Delco). As I recall, all seem to have the odometer in an identical position but the set-back odometers were located at slightly different elevations below the needle center. It is this last item that prevented dial faces from being swapped back and forth between different speedometer manufactures. Even though there may be a potential market for repro '35-'36 face plates I suspect this difference probably explains why the plates are not being produced.

I am no expert but I think this may be a 1935.

Chris, That is not a 35 Speedometer. Sorry. If you are looking my suggestion would be to try for a Stewart Warner as I have been told they are the best ones. kc

I THINK it is a 37, but I'm sure someone will correct me. I have one like it with a beautiful face, but the speedometer is shot.

Thank you, but I think that Mike In Az knew what I meant. He had a LOL (Laugh Out Loud) in his message.
