Found my notes on the 35-36 pickup book:...
The various differences in 35 and 36 will be discussed more fully hereinafter.
Lawson
Lawson many thanks to you and Jerry for the information you have collected so far, and for sharing your discoveries with us. I sincerely hope your book is published.
The EFV8 Club's treatment of yourself and Jerry was very shabby indeed. As you know I wrote a letter to the President, (with copies to) Office bearers and Directors. My letter set out in detail the facts as I understood them, and reasons why the decision to abandon the book was made in error. I reasoned with the Board, and pleaded a case for reinstatement, I also suggested a method of how the reinstatement could be achieved, and how the expense of publication and distribution amortised and justified. And, not to put to fine a point on it; I also questioned their decision with a moral argument, asking what author could ever trust the Club again? And, how could the membership have faith in a club that treats two senior members (that it commissioned to write a book) with such cavalier disregard, and insult them so, by not even offering an explanation or an apology.
The response, as they say, was sadly lacking. Zip, Nada, Nought, Zero.
Not even a curt 'We are in receipt of your letter, we disagree.'
So with their timid heads in the sand, the words of Herman Melville come to mind, from Moby Dick, Ahab is taunting the White Whale.
"I laugh and hoot at ye, ye cricket players, ye pugilists, ye deaf
Burkes and blinded Bendigoes! ...No, ye've knocked me down,
and I am up again, but ye have run and hidden. Come forth from
behind your cotton bags!"
