So 10 years later I am putting my horn button back together.
I have no idea what happen to spring any more and if there was anything else in side with the spring:confused:
Does any know the approximant size of the spring that goes in there?

Spring is 1-3/16 long with a 13/16" ID. See pix.

thank you
I found it cause of your picture

Is there a way of testing to see if the circuit is working before I bend the tabs over?
I see at the bottom of the rod there is a little brass cylinder stick out at the bottom

Make sure to clean all contact surfaces before assembling it. Check for continuity between the brass terminal at the bottom of the rod and the rod itself while the horn button is depressed. If you have a complete circuit you're good to go, and can bend the tabs over.

Note that the spring, inside surface of the horn button, the ferrule that goes on the spring, and the metal surface of the light switch are all part of this grounding circuit.
