35 Ford Leather Interior Option?

I am restoring the interior of my 35 3 Window Coupe with correct materials . While I like the stock broadcloth - I would prefer leather for appearance, durability and ease of egress

Did Ford offer an optional leather seat for salesman, doctors etc?

It's your car. Do what you want, that will make you happy. Unless you are making a "trailer-queen", trophy car, put in leather. Everybody will love it !

Yes- It was artificial leather in a grey-brown color. I saw an original three-window coupe many years ago with the "leather" option. Everything was in "leather" sewn in the deluxe pattern. That included the doors, headliner, visors, everything.

If you decide to go that route be prepared for a lot of so-called "experts" to tell you it's wrong! As I recall, the owner told me that it does get a little tiresome arguing with people so he kept some dealer documentation in the glove box to prove the car's authenticity. For some folks that still wasn't enough!

As a side note, I have hydraulic brakes on my '35 (which I love). However, I am still amazed as to the number people who seem to be eager to tell me my car is "wrong" because it should have mechanical brakes. This is not exactly new information for me. I have owned the car 52 years and I made the conversion. Is the car "wrong?" Not for me. So, as was stated in another reply, it is your car do what you want!

That would look really great in a coupe. Was it available on the 5 window as well? And did it extend into '36?

I believe vinyl was available in the convertible models, but I don't know about the closed cars. Lebaron Bonney Co. could tell you at 800-221-5408. They make the interiors for "stock" Fords.

In the closed cars it was either Mohair or Broadcloth.

In the open cars it was Leather inside and "Leatherette" (artificial leather) in the rumble seat although you could get cloth in the front.

Dave D-

I think I am going to respectfully disagree with you on that. If you get a chance check out the V8 Ford Club's book "1935-36 Ford" (Don Rogers and John Swanberg authors, CR 1998), on pages 51-55 they state (and show patterns) that "artificial leather" was available for all closed '35 standard and deluxe model Fords as a factory option.

Yes Tom please read the description for the 3 Window Coupe (which is what PeterC asked about) it reads:

Special Order Only:
Seats, door panels, arm rest ......... Gray Brown Veal Grain LEATHER

Lock piller, seats side arm, seat bellows,
headliner back, windlace, door-to-pull cord..........Gray Brown Veal ARTIFICIAL Leather.

I have six 35 Fords, two with original interiors (or remains of one!) and both my Convertible Sedan and Cabriolet had real leather seats except the Cabriolet's Rumble seat is artificial leather (just like it says on page 49).

I'm fairly sure that all Deluxe cars had real leather on the seats.
