`35 Ford fuel pressure regulator

This is probably an old question, but here goes. I have installed an electric fuel pump and an Offenhauser regulator (P/N 560-58500) on my truck feeding dual carbs. After a couple of years use the regulator started to leak (the regulator gasket dried out and became wrinkled). I have read threads of similar complaints, but no remedy, other than replacement. A new regulator isn't that expensive, but you would think somewhere a replacement gasket could be purchased. Any suggestions?

If you decided to replace the regulator might consider a Holley. The style you currently have is not regarded very highly for quality or longevity IMHO. Believe the Holley to be a better product for the same price. Also think there are rebuild kits for the Holley.

The chrome regulator with the round dial, that goes from 1# to 6# pressure, is JUNK,
throw it in the garbage as fast as you can.

When the diaphragm cracked in mine, it sprayed gas all over the place. Luckily
for me, I was just looking at the engine when it started spraying gas out of the
regulator. If I would have been driving down the road, it would have been disastrous.

Summit told me that a new diaphragm was NOT available, (I'm glad they wern't), so
I got a small (low pressure) Holley regulator, which has a replaceable diaphragm. I
placed a small threaded tube, (10/32 thread) into the weep hole, and a small hose
from the tube, pointed away from the engine, towards the ground, so incase of a leaky
diaphragm in the future, it won't spray gas all over the place.

.

Thanks to all! In fact I did buy the Holley for (blasphme) my 396 `66 Chevelle.n I guess I will purchase another for the `35.

Same price and much better quality. There is a high pressure one and a low pressure one, the low pressure one is 1-4 psi I think. Anyway, be sure it is the low pressure regulator.
