35 convertible interior questions

Finally getting to some fun stuff on my restoration

Cigar lighter and Instrument light switch, I have the original socket of the cigar lighter (not sure if it works) and the original instrument switch which does not show any continuity in either position. Any thought on what to do to replace them?

Throttle and choke knobs, I have Carpenters knob replacements w/ short rods and I have the original rods coming off the engine but how to I join them together? Still have the originals from before the restoration and there is a sleeve with no set screws holding them together. Anyone sell that sleeve? Also is there to be a gourmet in the dash for the rods?

Where is a source for 6 volt bulbs for the dash?

Any Ideas where to get the hardware for end of the Robe Rail Cord for the back of the front seat (as per page 46 of 35-36 early ford club book)? Any close up pictures would help too.

Just curious question all of the original knobs where white when I found the car and the books says the knobs where maroon in 1935 (painted). I saw no signs of any paint or any other color on my knobs. Is maroon the correct color knob for 1935 Convertible?

Sounds like you haven't looked at many catalogs yet to see what is offered in the aftermarket. Some of the catalogs are also an excellent source of assembly methods. I suggest also going to some swap meets to look for parts.

LeBaron Bonney has the rope cord and brackets...1-800-221-5408.

Knob colores are discribed in the 35-36 Restoration book you referenced.

If its a 1935 instument light switch, you should have continuity when the knob is pulled out; if a 1936 switch you will have contiuity when the knob is pushed in. If you are dareing and carefull.. you can take them apart and clean them.

I can still get some of the 6v bulps at NAPA

Hope this helps

Check your original dash light switch are the two terminals on the back bending toward each other? If so place a piece of rigid plastic between the two. The plastic should be thick enough to move the terminals back so that they are parallel to each other, then try the switch. This should restore the snap action of the switch if the switch still does not have continuity you have to disassemble the back and pull out the contacts to clean the areas that touch each other.

The dark colored knobs are for the Standard car, Deluxe cars used lighter colors, cream, ivory type color.
#63 light bulbs for the dash.
You may be able to pry the old knob shafts out of the original link, or cut them near the link and drill them out then epoxy the new knob shaft into the old link.
Yes there a couple of special grommets that fit in the dash around the choke and throttle rod shafts. The grommets are made aftermarket and are split so they can be put in place after the rods are installed.
