Looking for a complete-as-possible side mount spare carrier assembly for 35-37 pickups. Don't know if other years will work as well. This carrier mounts to the passenger side of the bed ahead of the rear fender. Thank you.

The 35 is different than the 36/7. The spare rod is diffferent and it has a different size spare mount flange due to a different bolt pattern wheel. The correct carrier for all 3 years has a rod that passes through the hole in the runningboard where the spare tire depression is located with a flange attached to mount the tire. There is a hole in the center of the rod for a bolt with a spacer around it. If using a locking spare, there are other parts as well. Which year are you seeking?

The truck is a 36 but don't know about the boards. They, or at least the pass. side board, are off a different truck. The board I have has 2 large holes that pass thru the board and under-side brace; one in the center of the tire depression and one about 4-6 inches futher toward the frame rail. I DO NOT know what I'm actually looking for exactly so any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

re-read your post and it seems to me that you are describing a vertical "stalk" that sticks up thru the hole in the depression to which is bolted a "wheel carrying triangle-shaped flange" . Does that sound correct?

Would the second or rear hole which also p[asses thru the rb brace be for some kind of support brace?

Hi, I don't know exactly what year spare tire bracket you need, but I have one that I know is correct for 38/39 and probably 37 as well. It is illustrated on page 12 of the "Green Bible" and it says that it is correct for 36-41. This reference has not always been correct before so I hesitate to say it will fit other years. However, I know it fits 38/39 pickups with the dimple in the passenger rear fender. It is not complete but the essentials are there. I have the cast mast, the large triangle to mount the wheel (with the studs), and the brace that goes under the running board. I don't have the tube and long bolt that mount to the bed, but they should be easy to fabricate if you can get the dimensions. There is also a small bracket that supports the rod where it attaches to the pickup box which I no longer have. If interested call 802-869-2688 or e-mail jen.toby@yahoo.com Toby Lampert

38/9 pickup spare tire carrier rods are not the same as 36/7 which are not the same as 35. I will try to get pictures later today and post them.

This is what they look like.

I have pictures of the three spare rods in one of the pictures. From left to right, they are 35, 36/7, and 38/9. The large flange shown is the one for 36-39 pickups. There is a top strap, also shown that was used if you were using the locking spare. There should be a pciture of the correct locking spare for a 36. I also showed the correct bolt and one of the spacers. The large bracket is the one that is under the runningboard on the 35-early 37 runningboards. I tried to show the two holes in the runningboard...the small one in the dimple is a drain hole. The larger one is the one that the spare tire carrier bolts to, through the large bracket pictured. In the picture for the 35, I have pictured two flanges. One is correct for the locking spare and the other one, the primered one I believe was used with no locking spare.

I scored these pieces Saturday at a local swap meet. $5.00. I still need to find or will make the small lower 'Z' shaped brace but looks like I have the makin's for a spare tire mount.

Thanks to all who posted or PM'd me. FordBarn is a great place with great people.

You are goodd to go. The spacer is easily made and the bolt does not have to be OEM to work just fine. If you will not use a locking hubcap, you do not need the top strap.

Want to thank Dick who gave me the dimensions for the upper tube and lower Z brackets. I believe I now have most of what I need. Again, thanks to all.
