35-37 pickup hood hinge

Is this held on with bolts/nuts? I only have two small screws at the rear with square nuts, I would like to save the hinge and hope I can. How was this originally attached to the hood tops? Also If I cannot save the hinge, does anybody recommend a source for a replacement. Thanks.
 
the hood on my `37 1/2 ton was riveted to the hood top pieces. bob drake offers a replacement hood hinge.

Vanspeed, I just got one from "theearlyfordstore.com" I haven't tried it yet, but i'm thinking about having my local blacksmith tack it one with his tig welder.....not sure yet. Mine to is pretty far gone..
 
I found mine was spot welded to the hinge and looked to be undisturbed. However, the welds were pulling out where the metal was thin. Clamping with visegrips, I carefully used pop rivets to put it back together. Not the best solution but did the trick. My hinge was bound up too, soaked it with acetone and ATF. Several days of this and I began working it loose. Works fine now. Good luck with the truck.
 
My hinge is now off. There is a spot at the back where about three inches of one side is gone. The hinge works but both ends that stick out and feed in to the brackets are rough, one is completely gone. Should I try to restore this one or get a new one? I only want a new one if it fits correctly. Here are some pics of mine. It isn't super straight and I don't want to spend a lot of time on it if I can get one that fits but if they all fit poorly than I have to try and fix this one.




 
I have a new stainless hinge from Bob Drake and it seems to fit fine, but I haven't really fussed around wih final fitment yet.

Based on your pics a new one would be a definite upgrade, and even a good quality used one would be worlds better than what you have to work with.

I know I'm glad I got new stainless rods for the side panel hinges.
 
Are the locating holes drilled in the Drake piece? And if they are do they line up? I don't know if it is original but my hood has punched holes that fit in to holes in the hinge. None of these were used to fasten it however, it was spot welded between the holes.

Yes, the holes lined up just fine. i didn't have to re-drill or enlarge any of them.
