35-36 radios

I have these two radios. Is one for a '35 and the other for a '36? If not, can someone identify which is which? I will probably need someone to repair whichever one I choose and I will need a recommendation for a radio repair person. Thank you for your help!

The radio in pictures 3 and 4 looks like a 1937 radio to me. Remove the lid and there may be a schematic inside that shows the manufacturer model number.

The one without the bump I believe is the 35 because of the on off switch on the side.In 36 the switch was in the radio head.

35 radio for an open car is shown below, the closed 35 radio control box did not have a speaker or cut-out for one. 34 glove box radio was carried over into 35 to use up supply, that stopped when supply was used up. The 35 radio was carried over to 36 until the unit with the hump, in your photos, was available. The small knob on the radio is a tone control switch.

I have the control and the speaker. I could use either radio as this will not be a show car. I'll just have to find someone that can put it into working shape

The head on the right of your photo is 35 for an open car, can't use it for your radio. To the left of the 35 head is a 36 head, on the far left is another 35 control head that has been taken apart. Check to see if the 36 head has wires on the rear and the on/off switch inside the head works.

It looks as though that head on the right has the original wires coming out the back. You may want to consider a newer type speaker as well. The ones for 35/36 took considerable amps to create the necessary magnetism (for the plate vibration for sound?). Newer radios already come with the necessary magnet. It shouldn't be that hard to get a speaker that is very near the right size to fit into the speaker hole overhead in the 36.
