'34 Sedan Cowl Holes

In the upper middle of the cowl of my "34 Fordor there is one hole at the midline and one hole higher and to each the left and right.
I know that the left and right are for the choke and throttle rods, but what goes through the center hole?

I have the coil generator wire, the cowl harness and the wiper vacuum hose going through the large oval hole with the keyhole shaped rubber grommet.

Also, the cowl grommet kit consisted of 5 parts, 2 Thottle/Choke, 1 cowl harness, 1 speedo cable (lower left cowl), but what does the 6inch 3/8 od rubber tubing attach/go through?

Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

The rubber hose is for the drain in the front center of the cowl vent opening and bends at a right angle thru the cowl and runs the water down the front of the cowl, thats the way my 34 ... 4 Dr is ...

I'm currently away from the car.
Are you suggesting the 6 inch rubber tubing connects somewhere on the rear end of the cowl vent then goes through the center cowl hole that currently has no grommet or fitting?

If so, why might the hole be about 5/8ths inch in diameter and the tube is only 3/8ths?

Yes Savvy... If you put your head under the dash and look up to the cowel vent you will see a small short pipe coming down from the foreward center of the cowel vent , that is where you attach the hose and then thread it thru the hole in the cowel , a 90 degree bend in the hose, I just put a new one in my car, and no grommet... Da ...

Thank you, O Sarcastic Ones

As I stated, I'm 20 miles from the car.
I'm also a dentist and the thought that a 3/8 inch tubing is suppose to go through a 5/8 inch hole without any other grommet/filler ....well is counter intuitive. After all, the hole then is almost twice the necessary size......and as you may recall, it is the largest hole. .......so why not just make them the same size, the hose would still fit.

Thanks just the same.

Cheers!

'34 Fire Wall.jpg I think they are for mounting the ing. coil on a four cylinder car as the coil is inside the fire wall. I have posed this question befor on the barn and it seams all org. cars have them.

My 34 coupe was a very original car. The hose being disscused here on my car was the old red genuine rubberhose, very cracked up from age. The hole was a factory punched hole between the choke rod hole and the throttle rod hole. 34 billct, the hole on my34 was larger than the one that you show. Tom
