'34 Roadster top question

Barners,
I have been wrestling with a technical question concerning the soft-top install on my '34 Roadster. The question in what type of finishing binding material should be used on the front bow and the rear bow. There are two choices: either a Hydem strip OR the Wire-on material. The only decent picture in the Early V8 resto book for the '33 and '34, is that of a '33. That '33 uses the Wire-on material, but it looks like a newer addition to an old top.

Anyone out there have a good background on tops that can venture a recommendation??

Thanks in advance

No takers on the question of materials on a soft-top??? So far I guess it is going to be Hydem finishing strip.

Any other opinions???

I have a 33 Roadster that I finished last summer with LeBaron Bonney Top and Upholstry materials. I used T14-GT Fabric. I think you will find the 33 and 34 tops will be the same unless someone did something different on one day than most did on other days.

Look on page 7-46 of the 33/34 Ford Book. I believe that is called hydem welt. My top lookes exactly like the the roadster top depicted. I believe most 34s would look the same.

Good luck,

trying to get a better shot for you, the rear shot here is a dirrent style to the screen shot ,the rear one in my opinion is much better he had the option of going Le Barron way but chose this style ,it has no hi dim ?? The cloth is another make .

Bill T,
The softtop on page 7-46 in the '33/'34 Resto book has what is called "Wire-On" finishing welt. Also, that car is an early '33 if you notice the early outside door handle. Flathead Ted's photos are of a complete;y different top setup, but does use "Hydem" as a finishing welt. His top looks completely removable, using 'Lift-the dot" fasteners around the whole rear of the top.
