34 pickup dash gauge?

Got some questions on these dash gauges I found in a box of spares. Actually first picture are the gauges I took out of the dash on my 34 pickup. Is the SW speedometer the original gauge? I am puzzled why the fuel gauge is labeled as “Petrol”? I am keeping the Sun tach although I don’t have the controller to go with it and plan to use the SW Speedo if I can get it connected and working? I plan to sell the others. Make me an offer or pm me.

The "SW" speedo is NOT original.

They may have thought there was not enough room on the gauge to label it "GASOLINE". OR.....it may be a gauge originally used somewhere across the big pond. DD

drfromnc,

I am looking for an ammeter with the "loop" connection on the back for a '34 truck. Do any of those have the "loop" connection?

Good luck with the SW tachometer that has no controller box (especially if it's a 6 volt unit). I can make a controller box if you are significantly motivated.

The petrol gauge is from Australia or Great Britain. My '33 speedo is like your Stewart Warner and the other hydrostatic glass tube and amperes gauges were common to 32-33-34 pickups.

That Petrol gauge (which appears to be electric) is not '32 pass car and '32-34 Ford commercial although it might fit in the opening.Ford gas gauges then were hydrostatic, not electric.

Red, I don’t know what you mean by loop connection? Here are pics of the front and back of the ones I have.

If any of these are what you need I will send it to you. If so, Private message me your address.

The two on the left have the LOOP that the wire passes THROUGH, making them what he is calling a "loop connection" type of gauge. DD

Sorry. DD, but the Stewart Warner speedometer is original to all '32-'34 pickups (along with those from Delco and Waltham) except early '32s with an 80 MPH speedometer. The lower three gas gauges in the second photo are originals as are the two ammeters on the left in the last photos of ammeters. The gas gauge with all numbers on the right side of the glass tube is early '32 only.
