34 locking spare questions

I'd like to install the locking cap on the spare of my car but have questions. I located the locking cap and the attached upper strap, but don't have any of the other parts, or know how they go together. I'm not against fabricating a part or two if necessary but I don't know what it should look like. Can anybody help with a picture or a drawing (sketch)?

Thanks!

There are three components for your locking cap....

The Cap (picture 2)

The flat strap

AND the loop part of the strap in my picture #1

The loops do show up for sale infrequently, the have a rounded tee on one end that lock into the flat strap attached to the cap

I can take better pictures when I get home this evening.

Note with the 34 cap how the indentation around the Ford script gets wider at the two ends as pictured above. The 35 cap although nearly identical, does not change dimension around the script. You should be able to find the missing parts without making them. The parts do show up for sale although the U shaped bracket is nearly identical to 35 I believe there is a slight difference.

Better shots of the "loop" strap for you

I had a part fabricated from the drawings, and everything fits well, but I have one snag. The cap won't fully lock on the rim. The key gets really snug when it's about half closed and I don't want to force it. Any suggestions on getting it to close smoothly?

Either the paint on the rim is too thick OR you can takes some sandpaper and sand the tips of the locking cap spoke ends to fit the rim. The problem with the later IS it might fit loose and rattle on another car/rim.

The spring loaded tappered points of the tips on the backside of the cap perhaps might need trimming. Before you do any trimming pull the pins and verify that the pins retract on the shaft. They could be rusty and not retract properly..Roberts correct as the paint on the wheel might be thick. Look at the taper of the ends. 32 is the only year that its chamfered,at least from the originals I have owned.
