34 ford wiring

I need some advice/help with my headlite wiring harness. Put a new/used one on my 34 and have some questions. It seems to work as i checked with ohm meter to identify hi and lo beams. I am having a terrible time getting the bullet connectors in the sleeve connecting the harness to the pigtails from lites. Is there a secret getting them in and seated or am I doing something wrong. I ran the harness out of steering box across top of frame to the slot in inner fender where brace comes thru, is that correct? Is there a clamp that holds the harness to the top of the frame? Is there a drawing anywhere that shows the positions of the lite switch and what is activated with each position?

thanks for help

The wiring diagrams shows it fairly well. I also drew up a diagram for a 32, think they are the same or similar.

Normally clipped to the top of the chassis rail and yes through the stay hole .and clipped at the bottom of the Radiator ,

as to the question of connecting the bullets to the sleeves.
since these are new reproduction parts, some of them are no good and will never work properly. Since they are not from a brand name, you will never know if you get good ones or bad ones. Typically the sleeve rubber is too small for the bullet to insert all the way in and connect to the ring. When inserted, the bullet will be completely inside the sleeve. If you can still see any of the brass bullet showing, it is not all the way in or the sleeve is bad. Even the good wire harness makers (Classtech, Y n Z , Harris etc) buy the connectors from outside vendors and they sometimes get bad sleeves. You best bet is to call one of the actual wire harness makers and order sleeves and bullets. They will know all about good and bad sleeves. Do not buy them from the typical retailers as they have no idea if they have a batch of good ones or bad ones. The other option is NOS.
My opinion

thanks for your replies, i will try to remove the rubber lining from one of the sleeves and see if i can get the bullets in and then electric tape or heat shrink tube. think i bought these from drake many years ago.
thanks

Bob, The headlight wiring harness exits the headlight switch on the bottom of the steering column and is run inside the chassis channel and clipped with several spring clips along the top side of the lower chassis rail and not on top of the chassis as was mentioned previously. The wiring spring clips are used on many Fords of the era. MACS part number for them is 32-21441-1. Can be bought in a pack of 10. Other suppliers have them as well. Regards, Kevin.
