34 Ford Tudor Question

I bought a 34 Ford Tudor basically disassembled. I am now trying to figure out how the interior pieces fit together and there are some "gaps" that I need help with.

First, is there a trim piece or rubber piece that goes between the windshield and the dash? If not, there is an ugly gap there of about 1/2" that shows the windshield regulator and the screws that hold the dash on, as shown in these pictures. If there is a part, please give me a source and part number. I've looked through several catalogs and not found what I think I might be looking for.

Second, the car has new wood bows and the pieces over the back windows. However, I'm missing the piece for the hinge posts, the A pillars and the header panel. One source I looked at had those hinge post pieces listed at over $300 each. Is that right? Are there more economical sources?

I'm sure I will have more questions as I go along but this will help me right now. Thanks for any help given.

I don't see how. The threaded inserts are in the dash, not the lip you see. You can't install the screws from under the dash.

You're right as the clinch nuts are on the dash/instrument panel, but the gap between the lip on the cowl and the back of your windshield frame is the culprit. There should be almost none and originally, the back of the windshield frame was painted black.

Hmm. I guess maybe an improperly installed seal. I will investigate.

So, the windshield should come very close to the lip on the cowl. Correct?

I have about a 3/8 inch gap between the windshield and the dash on my four door. I attribute this to the stiffness of the after market rubber perimeter seal around the windshield. I probably could close the windshield another 3/16 or so but I don't want to force it. Frankly, I don't find it objectionable and never even thought about it until I saw your post.

As for the B column wood, I think the $300 range is about what you can expect. I couldn't find the exact part on the Woodart web site but similar parts seem to be in that range. I have bought from Woodart in the past and the quality was excellent but be advised that you need to have your affairs in order because you could die from old age waiting for delivery. Try Brad's Woodshop, Friday Harbor WA. Brad knows his stuff, quality is second to none and he may have what you need in stock.
