34 ford resto

hello all, I'm new to ford's and anything older than 70's muscle cars. If I sound a bit silly with some of the questions I'm sorry but I have very limited knowledge in this area and a limited budget so I plan on doing alot of the work myself.

I have many many questions so I will dig rite in.

I plan on running a 350 chevy for now while I save to get a flattie built so I was wondering if the 350 will fit without cutting the firewall,

I want to keep it intact because I will be running the flattie later on and dont want to modify the fire wall.

And for the purest that hate chevys in fords sorry but the 350 is free and runs.

Also I plan on running the stock banjo rear but cant seem to find much info on brake upgrades for the rear.

When I convert to an open drive for the rear anyone use the speedway kit?

the rear radius rods were removed, I cant figure out where they bolt the x member/ frame I'm 100% sure they cant bolt to the torque tube because it rotates

any help or pics

again I'm very new to this thanks for the help

My guess would be if you tap the throttle slightly you will blow the rear end. I think the free SBC will end up being very expensive. What are your plans for a trans? I would suggest waiting and put the flathead in. What is in there now? You might have better luck with responses on HAMB http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/. Be sure to introduce yourself first.

You will grenade the rear end, you will end up doing some frame fab work that you will likely have to redo to set up the flat head, once you put in the 350 you will be speed addicted and no man has ever found the cure for this so the flat head will never be seen, by the time you get it all set up to run the Chev you will have a bit of money a bunch of time and a lot of thought into that. I would recommend that you take a bit of time to review your plan, go with one or the other in engines, do it once and enjoy it. I too recommend sourcing some info on the HAMB, use the search feature to see if you can find info pertaining to your topic. Have fun. If you have a question, and can't find the answer, ask.

Not sure what you are calling a torque tube, but it does not rotate. The driveshaft rotates inside the torque tube.

The 350 will fit if your careful, you would have to run a electric fan, the 34 rear is not strong enough to hold up to the 350, you might think about building up a 59 ab flathead, and just have fun driving it around, if you want speed drive one of you muscle cars,
