34 coupe seat question

Does anyone have a diagram, photo, or drawing of how the wires, springs, or cables are attached to make the seat adjustment function. I have some of the pieces and can probably figure some thing out to make it work, but I would like to try and do it right the first time. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Do you have the type that has two rods going to the two seat tracks, a center of the seat mounted handle? If so when the handle is rotated the two rods act to pull the lock bars out of the seat adjusters allowing the adjusters to move. There are springs on the lock bars and a spring on the handle.

Terry, Thanks for your help. I do have the springs on the lock bar, but didn't know about any spring for the handle. Thanks. I also don't have any the rod parts that connect to the center release bar. Since my center release bar a series of big teeth on one side of it, I thought that maybe they had used a type of small cable that wrapped around the bar. Don't know. Will keep researching it Thanks again.

If you look in the 33-34 restoration book on page 6-25 you will see the 34 seat center adjuster handle, the steel pan and the side track, lower RH. On 6-24 lower RH & LH is the Victoria and you can see the rods and how they are attached to the center handle and the handle. There is also a picture of the 33 front bench seat adjuster handle, but not the rest of the mechanism to the seat tracks.

Thanks for all your help. I am coming to the conclucion that what I took out of a 34 fordor sedan was not an original piece for a 34. What I am trying to upload is a picture of what I am working with. I sure it was made to work, however any of the connections had long been rusted away. So I guess my question now is this, what is the piece that I have? Thanks

I have that piece in my '33 5 Window and I'm sure it would be correct for a '34 coupe/roadster, not sure about sedans. I have my '33 in storage at the moment or I'd take a picture for you. There is a spring that connects to that part as well (by memory, which keeps tension on the ratchet affair. I may be able to find an old printed picture and scan it if it would help. Bill

If your tracks look like these your handle is wrong . Your handle setup is the same as mine in the pic & is from a 33 . This type does indeed use a spring that goes from the seat pan to the floor bracket . REMEMBER that the transition from 33 to 34 on many things is scrambled . That said my 34 4d { canadian } has the 33 type in it . I don't have the rest of the 34 locking track setup handy but there should be others here that can take a pic of it . Roadsters use nothing like this - just a wooden framework that doesn't adjust .
