33BB Haluling loads

Original closed cab? Those were RARE. I think Navy only? I had an M-1-4 ambulance. Would like to see more pictures of the IHCs, please.

As you may know - all M2-4s came from the factory open cab and were changed to closed cab by (who knows) but cold places the military may have done it in their shops - it's just too easy to do with a junk cab. I'm sure in cold places they asked themselves "why suffer?" I've seen almost as many converted as I've seen with open cabs.

Lot's of M3-4 came with closed cabs.

I believe a few came with closed cabs, Navy issue. The IIRC, the closed cab tidbit came from a Crismon book. The windshields had the same swing out mechanisms as the Chevies and other. I don’t remember if the cab fuel filler was not punched from the factory or if it was plugged somehow

Thanks for all of the pictures. Nice to see the old BB at work. Your 33 is great, and so are all your other trucks. Save as many as you can. They just don't make them like that anymore. I agree with you that driving old trucks is a lot of fun.

USMC M-1-4 half ton front line ambulance restored and enjoyed by the late great USMC S/Sgt Shirley Laird of North Bend, OR. Ended up in a PA collection.

Mine before I pulled it out of the mountains in OR.

I've only ever seen one IH out in the wilds, in a towing yard in eastern Wa. When I asked about they told me the owners kid was going to make a monster mudder out of it. Open cab, really in nice shape. What a shame

Shirley Laird had the M-1-4 ambulance, M-2-4 cargo, M-3-4 John Bean crash truck, M-5-H6 6x6, and M425 semi tractor all restored, in addition to tanks, a water buffalo, a DUWK, etc. nothing like cruising the dunes on an M60 tank. Was there on a parts run when he and his buddies just finished dropping a NOS engine in it. Original had a rod through the block. He got it off the practice range at Ft. Lewis.

He was on a tank crew in Korea. Heck of a guy.
