About to fit new regulator & channel rubbers to the left front window.(33 Fordor)
It has always been tight and even binds up to a stop. What has been happening is the glass channel seems to be cutting into the Batwing front guide destroying the felt ?.
Thee attached photos show a polished section of the glass channel where it has been rubbing, is this the norm ?.
Next question, what is the tank bolt at the end of the slot for ?.
Any other comments and/or tips on installation of Regulator, Glass & channels would be much appreciated.

Kieth the placement and length of the channel in relation to the glass and felt channel is critical .Ted
Thanks Ted, Is it trial & error or is there a measurement from the leading edge of the glass. There is not much room to move the channel as it would foul the opposite side felt. Also any ideas on the tank bolt ?.

The screw (tank bolt) wasn't there when your car was built. It was likely added to limit the travel of the forward arm of the riser mechanism. That plus your interference condition suggests that your window channel is too long and not original to your car.

While I'm away from my car stuff and can't be 100% sure, my recollection is that the bottoms of the window channel where the ends of the arms are inserted are never at the very edge on any Ford window channel of the period, unlike the one in your photo. Likely your channel is for another application such as 3-window coupe or Tudor sedan with wider windows and was cut down to use in your door.

Thanks David, I've searched a few part # but as yet no exact measurements on locating the channel. Hopefully I can talk Lawrie in removing his door lining so I can take some measurements. As a barner mentioned some time back watch your knuckles while working on door windows. I guess I didn't "Ouch"

Keith ,you missed a good day at the drags on sat night, 3 wins and into the final, motor conked out in the burnout,
Good day though.

33 Fodor. Maybe this can help to make sure the channel is correct.

Seems the doctor was wrong Lawrie. Your reflexes are still OK
Good on you

The glass is wider than the channel is long so David's advice may be good, to move the channel over slightly to miss the felt.
I scanned the picture, up side down, and saved it. Then went to my pictures and turned the image, right side up, then posted the image and it comes out up side down!!! When I go back to the image it is still right side up!! Windows 10
