33-34 V8 petcock

This is a small detail but I would appreciate some input.
Does the petcock lever go towards the top where it can be turned from inside the engine compartment or does it face towards the bottom where you have to go underneath just above the oil pan to drain the coolant? I personally always put the lever accessible from the top but I noticed on a 34 Dearborn Roadster the lever handles towards the bottom. I wonder if I am right or wrong on this one?

The petcock shown in the 34 engine blowup in a march 1934 parts book is pointed up . Page 1-7 & 3-2 in the EV8C 33-34 book show each year and the petcock handle is up . D'ya think there would have been some irate customers if they had to crawl in the dirt-mud to let the water out when done driving for the day in winter ?

I just drained and rinced the system and discovered exactly what you described. They now face up, no more wet elbows...
