33/34 Genius Test on Leaf Springs

There seems to be only one size "U" shaped bolt that holds the rear spring against the cross memeber. That is, the cotter pin hole is fixed on the bolt from the top of the "U". So how does an 11 leaf spring (sedan) versus a 10 leaf spring (coupe) use the same "U" bolt. Is it different thickness mounting plate in parrallel to the spring leaf or more washers on the bolt next to the nut?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!

There are more than one u-bolt and more than one clamp bar that are used in
combination. There is a chart in the big parts book???

According to a parts book from March 1934 there are 2 different clips or u-bolts as most call them . First is the short one B-5705-A and the long one is B-5705-B . The first shows as 1928-1934 and the second shows 1932-1934 . There are 3 different bars listed : the first is B-5708-C for the 10 leaf spring , the second is B-5710-C and is for the 11 leaf spring and the third is B-5712-C and is for the 12 leaf spring . All 3 are listed as 33-34 only . The 10 leaf spring is 40-5560-B and is for model 710 , 720 , 750 , 760 and 770 . The 11 leaf spring is 40-5560-A and is for model 740 . The 12 leaf spring is 40-5560-D and is listed for model 700 , 730 and commercial or model 46 models 820 and 850 . All 3 springs are listed as 33-34 only . Remember this book is from march of 1934 and does not include later stuff .

Like Richard said the big book -or green bible has charts and gives dimensions of these parts so you can ID em . The old book does not . My green bible is orange ? Oh well it still works . In looking at both some of the early info is lost to time by 1947 . I always use the info from the old book as it was printed when the cars were still in production and before any newer stuff existed to muddy the waters . Hope this helps David J AND LONG LIVE THE MODEL 40 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The orange Green Bible is from '49, the green from 1950. I've had both since the dawn of time but have never really compared them...generally go orange, as that was my first one.
Always best by far to have the closest book to your car's date, reinforced by a cumulation to see what year parts interchange.
