32 wire loom with switch refreshing

My son is helping me get my Vicky going again. We have a wire loom with cloth covered wire. Short of changing the wires, is there anything that can refresh the rubber insulation and cloth covers?

A common problem with that era wiring, even house wiring. About all you can do is wrap or dip the areas with cracked insulation or ragged cloth with electrical or liquid tape, not move the loom around too much, and hope for the best. But ror safety sake and/or peace of mind, you really oughta break down and install new stuff.

if the wire insulation has started to crack, the best solution is to replace it all. You can never tell where the next crack or frayed wire will be and what problems it will cause. For only a temporary measure tape cracked or frayed wires so you can get the car running and improve performance. Do NOT bypass the fuse, it is your only soruce of protection, if it blows replace it with another of the same size, if the replacement blows, do not run the car get the problem fixed.

I agree, go ahead and replace the old wire loom. I replaced mine on my '32 5W last winter....piece of cake! Contact Tyree Harris in PA. Advertises in the V-8 Times and Hemmings. Good luck, Pat
