Take a look at this photo of my frame where some one or something has elongated the holes for the steering box.. how could I right this without cutting out and reworking? I can weld the holes shut and redrill but it seems like the design is already sorta weak..

Thanks again

How about making a plate with the correct holes and welding it inside the frame rail. If you used 11ga. steel it would be just under 1/8" thickness.

while that would be a problem because my steering is already 1/4 inch from my headers.. 8ba blues...
I am kinda leaning towards going towards the outside of the frame and dressing it up. I hate to do that if I dont have to.

Your holes look a little more elongated than they should be but remember that the original holes were elongated to allow the frame to be used on pickups and passenger vehicles. Check another frame before you weld.

Another method to consider would be to back up the holes with copper, weld up the elongated side, and then dress the welds and clean up the holes with a file. That will eliminate any unsightly plate to the outside of the frame rail.
I have a frame in the basement, no. *AB5026xxx*, that the '32 Ford book by David Rehor considers to be "early" production. Those holes are round as shown in Fever's post above. Rehor states that the factory elongation started in late July.

Fordors' method is the correct way to eliminate the elongation and is very easy to do while not softening adjacent area of the frame. You could alternatively use a piece of aluminum plate instead of copper...Bob L
