How do you identify a 32 Ford steering box

I understand a 33/34 are similar but from my understanding, there is a difference in the sector housing frame mounting flange.

Thank you

Jack

On a 32 box the flange will have an ear sticking up when the box is mounted. A 33-34 box will have an ear pointing down.

Does this help at all?

Keep V-8ing! and 4-banging!

Also be aware that there were two different '32 steering sector housings (where it bolts to the frame). They look identical at first glance. Because of the shorter cowl on commercial vehicles, the steering column is closer to vertical than on passenger cars. This difference is accommodated by the placement of the three holes for the bolts attaching the sector housing to the frame. Often there's a 'B' stamped on the face of the sector housing denoting the commercial version, but not always. If there's no stamped letter you can still distinguish the difference by looking at the position of the holes relative to the center lines of the three arms of the flange on the end of the sector housing. When viewed head on, the three holes will be to the left of center for passenger car sector housings and to the right of center for commercial vehicle sector housings.
