32 sedan delivery body

i found a 32 sedan delivery in the woods today and was wondering if someone could give me a ballpark value of it. sorry no pictures. will need usual panel replcement all around. firewall is very good. has 4 cyl. spoon throttle. vent cover missing. doors are there with window risers and lock mechanism. even original door and window handles. only a few minor dents. has all interior wood that can be used for patterns, including wood around rear door. forgot to mention earlier that rear door is missing. any ballpark figure would be apreciated. even found 30 roadster cowl near it.
thanks

Pity no photos available.
Would love to see photos of a find like that and so would V8 TIMES magazine for "They are still out there" section.
Any chance of going back for photos?
Cheers from New Zealand

Without seeing it, the first question is: Is it a Sedan Delivery, which for 1932 was a converted Tudor with one rear door and solid panels where the rear windows were... -OR- is it a Panel Delivery, which is a unique Commercial body, the cowl and doors of which are basically pickup parts, with large rear quarters and two rear doors?

It is common for people to use the terms interchangably; people come into my shop all the time and spot my 1933 Panel Delivery body in the corner and say "oh, you have a Sedan Delivery"...

It is well known among V8 guys that Ford decided to not build an actual Sedan Delivery for 1932, but instead pitched the Panel Delivery, or Deluxe Panel Delivery, to their fleet customers. When that didn't go well, they sent 300 Tudor bodies to (Lebaron?) one of their body suppliers and had them converted. Being Commercial vehicles, survivors are extremely scarce and valuable, but are usually not in very good condition. The "real" versions have alot of unique woodwork in them that would deteriorate if left outside; the roof would go and then the rest. Panel Deliveries are subject to the same problems, as they have a full wood roof, side framework and floor. Many more Panel Deliveries were made than Sedan Deliveries, but survivors of both types are few. Many of the Sedan
Deliveries that are running around today are "recent converts" from a Tudor Sedan body.

If what you found is in fact a Sedan Delivery, you need to get it and
lock it up somewhere. Also need to document that it is a "real" one.

Please let us know which it is???

Whichever version it is, just step back, let me know where it is, and I'll properly dispose of it. What a find!

richard (ev8g), thanks for the info. it must have had only one door in the back because there is only one striker which is on the passenger side. it also appears to have most of the interior wood which is bad shape but could be used as templates for new. i'm trying to remember correctly but i believe it had small drip rail above rear opening.dash was also in it but gauges were shot. no frame. any info on approximate value would help. thanks

You are in White River Jct VT - Are you Bill J. ?

The RH striker and drip rail would be correct. Is the rear door there? That would make a HUGE difference, since you will never find one... Alot of the "new" conversions use a fiberglass door, although some have a metal door made from the rear of a Tudor or Fordor body. There might be a body tag
on the first floor rail? Having the door, wood patterns and tag will go a long ways toward proving its "legitimacy" which would make it worth alot more $. An original legitimate SD body, depending on condition, should be worth as much or more than other of the most desireable 32 bodies. What do they want for it?

I guess I shoulda read the original post a little closer...

no, i'm not bill j. but do know of him. women who owns property is in her 80's and didn't know it was there. the caretaker of the property which is posted with no tresspassing signs and who let us go look at it believes i can get it for practically nothing just for getting it out of the woods.

i'm sure i'll get, and right now its pretty safe. caretaker says if anyone is on property without his knowledge, cops are called. i guess it pays to talk to land owners or representatives first before tresspassing. after i get it i'll take pictures and try and post them. thanks for the info.

Whatever amount you are willing to pay, it is almost certainly worth more...

Can't wait to see the pics. Hope it works out for you. I've been looking for a '36 delivery body. Just can't seem to find one that we can afford just yet.

Now a source of information...there was a Streetrodder magazine, or maybe Rod&Custom, about a year ago on a company coverting tudors in a mostly original manner, with good pics of conversion door wood and many useful details. The rear door was indeed a conversion originally...the contractor to Ford received a tudor body and an extra tudor rear stamping to work from.
The conversion article was very high end work, NOT the quick and dirty fiberglass door stuff.

My 2 dr was converted at Kemps Rod And Restoration in Michigan and was one of them in the article. That winter he did 3 and had another one for Poteet in the works when I picked up mine. The wood kit come from Topeka Kansas and is a exact duplicate of the original. With a little work on the repro hinges you will hard pressed to tell the difference from an original. The difference is in the details and Kemp knows the difference.

Here's my 32 Delivery also covered in the June 2009 Rod & Custom article. Dan does excellent work installing the conversion package. The package is by Doug McRae from Topeka. If interested in doing a conversion call Doug at 785-273-6581 and Dan at 906-482-5656.

well guys, i got the wind blown out of my sail yesterday. finally got the old lady's ok to get the 32 out of the woods. took a couple of hours to get it on the trailer and get it home. after looking it over more closley it isn't a sedan delivery, but a 2dr sedan. whoever cut the back out did a good job, reasonably straight edges, but the wood in the back just didn't look right. made out of soft wood and not hard. i guess with a sedan donor, a bunch of repair panels, new floor (got what was left of floor for templates) and a lot of work it could probably be something. thanks to everyone that responded to my post to help me id a sedan delivery. if nothing else i know a little more about a sedan delivery. thanks again.

Even if it's just a Tudor and not a real delivery, it was still worth getting it outta the woods, IMO.

You can still build it as a delivery, right? It's still a '32 right? Win, Win. :D So what if it won't have that extra zero on the value when you're finished. ;)
