32 Model B fuel pump

I just got my B started after quite some time of not driving her and noticed
there is gas leakage between the diaphragm, some of the diaphragm screws
and the body of the pump. I don't ever recall having this problem in the past
after not running her. Is there some type of sealant I can use between the
diaphragm, screw threads/heads and housing? If so, where is the best place
to find/buy some?

Peter

I have new "B" diaphrams ,i would install a new one and no sealer is ever used on pumps. If you can not do this your self send it to me and if you open up the pump you might as well go completely through it. New valves etc. Charge is $100 plus $10 shipping. There not easy to do if its an aftermarket pump and NOT an "AC" pump. ken ct. 1-203-260-5945 cell.

Ken,

Thanks for responding. I have the rebuild kit I bought from you at the
Windsor meet. I'll try throwing the parts from that into the pump and see
what transpires. My pump is an AC. Peter

Good Pete,"AC" pumps have a nut on the stem of the diaf. Aftermarket ones are peened over [a ***** to do] Make sure you install the lever that pulls down the diaf. goes back is the right way[the curl on ]the pivit pin must be correct. If you have to Vince Faultner's web page has a great pic brake down of this pump. ken ct. good luck.

I have examined a number of real B pumps and a number of the common non-original ones that turn up on B's, and from observation of identified pumps seen at Hershey, I believe that the replacement pumps sre built around body castings from 1940's 6-cyl Dodeges and Plymouths. I think these must have been built on a commercial scale, as they are common in Model B configutation.
.In place of the large bosses threaded for Ford nuts on the real B pumps, they have a round body with 1/8 pipe ports, fitted with a Weatherhead 1/8 to female Fordnut adaptor fitting.

Bruce, ive come across a few AM pumps with the ford nut thread in them.Others have had the 1/8" pipe thread, but a fitting is still availible to go as you explained to the female ford nut. Thanks for your input also. ken ct.
