I am putting a '32 Lincoln instrument panel in a '32 Ford roadster. I read in Rodders Journal that the surface is made of silver?! Is this correct?

Does anybody know what it is made of and what the surface was like when new?

Appeciate an answer.

If you Google '32 Lincoln you'll see several shots of the dash as original. I'd also check with the various Lincoln Clubs web sites, I'm sure you'll find the info.

I have been looking for one for several years. Willing to pay. Just missed one last year at the LARS, my loss. They are made of a material called German Silver? I have had a couple of radiators from the Brassworks made of the same material. Doesn't quite shine like chrome but it polishs very nice, Mark Morton of HopUp Magazine has the Lincoln dash insert in his 29 highboy. Every year at the Pueblo NSRA run the guy who owns the liquor store beside the Marriott headquarters parks his 32 Lincoln Victoria with a for sale sign by his store for everyone to see. Looks like a 32 Ford vicky on steroids.

Here are a couple pictures from my hot rod dash photo collection. It doesn't answer your question but it will give you something to look at.
