I have 2 32 rear cross members the late one is more narrow than the early one has any one got a picture of the extra piece used to shim it out how thick is it any info would be wonder full to get Thanks in advance Jack

The difference between the two cross members divided by two will show the thickness of the frame reinforcement used inside the rail. I'm pretty sure the '32 frame is 11 gauge steel and if the same material was used 11 ga. is .119, just under 1/8". Is there 1/4" difference between the two?

Thanks That's great to know how large is it does it just cover end of cross member or go for and aft inside frame rail.

From "The 1932 Ford Book", "It extends 12" forward of the rear cross member to 2" past the rear-most shock absorber mounting hole."

This illustration from the '32 Service Bulletins is representative.

I have a late '32 frame with the inner re-enforcing plate, and yes, this needs a shallower x-member, also, I believe in its width. In a way, this is very good, as you can fabricate ( duplicate ) this inner plate and have a better frame. I can give you exact dimensions on to its location and overall length if required. A buddy of mine just fabricated one for his project. Robert

I to just recently had 2 very cherry rear crossmembers 1 early and 1 late sold the late one to a guy who was cutting the center out and installing a portion of an A crossmember. I remember taking these frames apart in the late 70s but have no idea what happened to the reinforcing plates. Next summer I'm moving after 68 years at the same place so maybe they'll show up????
