People decades before you have got the car running with what they had on hand that worked. Many model years of parts swap between flathead engines.

Complete engine swaps were and still are incredibly common.

From your pictures, the expert members can see some of the results of previous maintenance.
 
To get the drain **** open align its handle with the opening and probe in the opening with a piece of stiff wire.

Another reason you do not have the proper pump: Often owners wanted a temperature gauge on the engine. The 32-34 water pumps do not have the port for the temperature probe as the 35-36 do. It does not appear to be the case with your engine since your pump port is plugged. Once you remove the pump there may be a Ford part number indented into the casting on the side of the pump.
