32 firewall insulator panel-revisited

What is the best firewall insulator panel for a 32 currently, as to fit, appearance etc ? Is the fiberglass or abs the better choice. Wondering if something new and better was on the market now as I am to that part of my project? Thanks

I've used both and the fiberglass one is closer in appearance to the original because of the too-glossy finish on the ABS version, but both have their pluses and minuses. The insulation is separate on the f/g version which makes it easier to work with in creating the required holes and the semi-circular sections where the instrument panel attaches to the firewall. I recommend that you buy the version without holes as the some of them are misplaced on both the B and V-8 versions of the ABS product, for example.

I agree with DavidG. I recently installed an ABS one I got years ago from a reputable dealer. It had soft fiberboard and horsehair-type insulation mat attached. I found it far too thick for the original instrument tunnel bolts to go through the firewall. Had to grind out sections to make everything fit thickness-wise. But some of the hole locations still did not line up perfectly. Overall not bad looking at all, and certainly tough!
