32 Filler Neck Gas Stains

I guess anyone who has ever owned a 32 has had to deal with gas sloshing out of the filler neck, ruining/staining the paint. I have a new cap and it seals nice but it has not stopped this problem.

What have been your solutions, if any, to this problem?

The Rock Valley SS tank in my roadster is behind the seat, has an alloy screw on cap with a rubber seal, and does not leak one drop. I ran the tank vent line up higher than the tank and then out through the floor. The same type of cap and vent could be adapted to your external stock-type tank, and would eliminate gas leakage.

Gas leakage was a little thing Henry threw in for nothing. I've had lots of deuces over the years and it is a constant problem with most stock tanks and caps. I tryed the billet Oring cap on one but it didn't look right. It's something I guess you learn to live with.

I agree on the Billet, mine is hidden in the trunk, but a non-billet stock looking cover could be used over the billet cap.

I figure that big old gas stain on my '32 draws the eye away from all the rock chips in the paint. But if anyone does come up with a cure please let me know.
