32 door spring replacement

If its the latch spring. You need to remove the latch and do it on the bench.Pretty easy.Just pry open the tab to remove old spring.Slip new spring into tab and pinch shut. Then with a pair of pliers pull the leg of the spring until it hooks over its tab.If its the remote spring you still need to remove the latch .I've done this by clamping it in the vise and tap the new spring down and making sure the leg gets into the slots.

I did mine by removing it all as one unit then heating the clips red hot and using a screwdriver to straighten them out. Once I replaced the spring I heated the clips again and bent them back. The one on the triangle piece by the door handle is the lock spring. Do not try to bend it(as opposed to flexing it) as it is brittle and will snap later (I know from experience). The spiral one is the door latch spring.

Can that assembly be removed without removing the glass?
How do you do it?
Thanks
Jim

I did it without taking out the glass. As I recall I had to take a screw out off the window track to get the latch mechanism out. Just takes a lot of patience and cussing.

Here is a hopefully helpful hint. Once you have repaired the lock assy. and put it back, check the piece that links the lock to the door handle. I found on mine it was bowed toward the window and catching on the window when it went up and down. I bent it back towards the inside and all worked great.
