I bought a new dome light switch plate from drake's to replace the old one in my 32 fordor. I notice it is not the same. I am not sure which is correct. I have tried to send a picture of both. the old one has a concave recess around the switch opening while the new one has a convex shape that is different. the new one is also smaller. I have tried to send a picture of them. hope it works.

Your original is correct, genuine Ford. The Drake switch plate must be a generic one he found a source for. With the smaller C-C for the screw holes it will not fit the original switch.

it looks as though the switch plate in the mac's cataloque is also the incorrect one. the anyone make a correct reproduction

For best results, stay away from reproduction parts. Restore your original parts.
It is not uncommon for vendors to sell parts that are not correct.

The original interior 1932 light switch plates should they be nickel or chrome plated?

Nickel plated, just like most of the rest of the interior hardware.

As for Barry's question, your original switch plate looks good enough to save; why not have it re-plated?

is plating charged by the piece? Or is it cheaper if you have a lot of parts. Ie should I wait until I have all the parts together or can I piecemeal it?

your right David. I will either replate it or just use it as it is. does anyone want to buy a cheap reproduction. I have one for sale!

Dome light switch plate offered reproduction is a generic unit most likely Model A version, Correct recessed plate is plated for 32-5 and then painted up to 1939

Jim,

As for your plating question, I think most competent platers prefer the batch approach and likely price their work accordingly. If you are a regular customer of a plater, they likely will accommodate you for a single piece in an emergency, but not if you wear out your welcome with nothing but emergencies.
