32 cowl and grille shell lacing

I would like to know the dimensions (cross section) of the B-16739 and B-16740 (?) lacings. What little I do know is the A & L stuff is long gone. Snyder's brown core oval seems good for the cowl, but may be too thick for the grille shell. (Not talking about the white core black round stuff). Anyway what size should these be?

The original was 17/32" wide plus or minus 1/32" and 3/8" high. The sides were rounded with 3/16 radii.

Is there any good replacement for the cowl lacing for a 32?
The stuff I got from Mac's a few years ago has settled quite a bit
Thanks
Jim

Jim,

That's the problem with the currently available lacing, namely its soft core and the resulting "settling" that ends up realigning your hood.

A&L Parts Specialties made a serious effort to find a new source for their exhausted inventory of their hard-core lacing, but eventually gave up. Evidently the process to manufacture it was environmentally unfriendly and re-inventing the process to conform to present environmental standards was too costly to merit further pursuit. In other words, I know of no current source for the original hard core lacing. Sorry.

Thank you David
I guess I could put something under it kind of like a shim, but thought maybe something better was available
