32 B Fordor Mirrors

I drove my 1932B Fordor for the first time today and really hated not having outside rear view mirrors. Was that an option in 1932?

Don't know if it was a factory option or not. I've ran hinge pin mirrors on all my Pickups, 5 windows and sedans. Get the ones with the 4 inch head. Don't look for the cheapest as some of them do not hold their adjustment. When they're adjusted right I have very good rear vision. I also still run an inside mirror.

Not available from Ford as options, but as Krylon32 notes, there are aftermarket alternatives available.

Lately I've been using the 32 hinge mirrors from C W Moss. $58.00. I assume they are made bu Vintique. I've had no problems to date. Drake never seems to have any?

My only comment about the hinge mounted mirrors, is that if you drive with your arm rested on the window frame, all you will see is your elbow. I have a hinge mount on my Fordor, but just put an old 50's era door edge clamp on mirror on my 5w and like it much better. it sits a little higher above the hinge and I can drive with my arm rested on the window frame and still see behind me.

There is also the 46-17741 for the pickups. It is very similar to the B-17741 but mounts at a slightly different angle on the hinge. Might work better for some situations.

Thanks for the help, I'll probably buy from Moss. I have read that VW mirrors fit well, but wouldn't know what year VW mirrors to look for.

As I recall, the VW mirrors were from the Beetle. They were being recommended in the distant past, probably well before the Vintique repros were available.
