32 5 window scuff plates

I ordered new stainless steel scuff plates for my 5 window. When the parts came in they were formed in blank to be cut to fit the application. The body has not been modified nor repaired with different or incorrect door sills.

The blank scuff plates are formed differently to the ones in my car. The ones in my car had 8 screw holes, 3 in the top and 5 along the lower part of the scuff plate. The new material is inadequate in width of the down turned flange, or the one below the door sill.

What I do not understand, I have talked to other vendors that have the same molding but no one seems to have the right shaped scuff plate material or weld flange extensions for screw holes to the incorrect material.

Guess I'll need to have the original zinc plated to appear correct.

Does anyone know where I could find correct replacement for original scuff plates.

I bought scuff plates from LeBaron Bonney that I believe were from Vintique. They were formed pretty close to the originals but were blank with no holes and were the same width on the top horizontal leg; not trimmed to a point as the originals. As I recall the vertical side leg was just a tad shorter than the originals, but were long enough for the screw holes. Laying out the centers for the holes took some careful measurements to match the holes in the body.
They are certainly not exact copies of the originals but worked for me.

I got the same as BillM for my 32. I think they are stainless. Not that great but only option that I know of.

The reproductions also are available in aluminum. The original engineering drawing specified aluminum or zinc, although it seems that nearly all originals encountered are made of zinc. Original zinc sill plates will clean up nicely with Scotchbrite and metal prep (weak phosphoric acid).

No one, to my knowledge offers them in zinc, only in aluminum or stainless steel. I believe that Brookville offers them in both materials, but perhaps only in the lengths for roadsters and 3-w coupes.
