Re: 32 4 cyl chassis

Sheldon,

Unless by some miracle Waldren has reproduced the original muffler with the bell-shaped ends, we nee to start with the muffler he has provided. Viewing the muffler from the rear with the inlet at 6 o'clock, the outlet is hopefully at 2 o'clock. That's vital for the right choice of bracket and clamp at the back of the muffler and to provide clearance from the right rear brake rod. The clamp at the joint of the two tail pipes at the rear cross member and the two tail pipe sections were originally common to all '32 passenger cars and commercial vehicles(with a longer rear-most tail pipe released for panel deliveries as a running change).

No miracle.Muffler is just round with flat ends.Inlet and outlet centered. We will have to fabricate or modify what was included in the kit.

Re: 32 4 cyl chassis

Follow up on the installation of the Waldrens 32 4 cyl exhaust system. In spite of the muffler having flat rolled ends and inlet and outlet being centered, the installation went very well. The brackets provided had to be modified which in fact was not difficult. Head pipe was properly bent to clear the K member then up a bit to meet the inlet of the muffler. The muffler does not hang to low, sits parallel to frame and clears the mechanical brake rod easily. The 2 piece tail pipe alignment from muffler outlet up through and out the rear cross member was perfect. Very pleased with the quality and ease of installation.
