Please take a look at this pic.. My drivers side door is sucked in at the rear 3/16" +/-.. I see no way of adusting it as the hinges are riveted to the door... am I missing something? The lines and gaps are good, but the door needs to go out..

Thanks as always.. Tom

You need to loosen the middle hinge screws, pull the quarter panel in to match the curve of the door then retighten the hinge screws. The tuff part is figuring out how to pull the quarter panel. I would attach a piece of angle iron to the door jamb wood and two pieces, top and bottom, on the other side door jamb wood (to spread the load,) then use a turnbuckle or come-a-long to do the pull. The set up will take hours, the pull less than a minute.

I don't know if pulling the body will fix the problem..the screws being countersunk will pull the door right back to where it was....
How perfect were they from the factory?
The only solution I can come up with in my little brain so far is either cutting the flat part of the hinge and re weld and dress or.... weld the hinge mounting bolts up and get the door right and use a transfer punch from the backside ind re drill counter sink the holes.. Don't really like either one as it would be impossible in my mind to get it perfectly lined up...

OK a little more detail. Remove the wood screws and drill the holes and fill them with a hard wood dowel. The other two are machine screws that go into captive nuts. The holes for these screws are over size which would allow plenty of adjustment. After body/door alignment tighten the machine screws then drill new holes for the wood screws in alignment with the new location of the hinge. BTW instead of pulling the 1/4 panel you could push the door out. You still have to do the same thing with the hinge as explained above.

It has been years since I did the doors on my 1932 Ford 3 window. As I recall the botom door hinge screws went into a steel gussset on the body side. The only way I saw to lineup everything was to cut the bottom hinge into to move the door in or out and TIG weld back togrther. Also do the middle hinge to keep all the hinge holes aligned. Lewis
