31 Tudor Starter Quit Working

No, the fuse would not be the problem. It is wired to protect just about everything EXCEPT the starter. Besides, it is an aftermarket item.

Go ahead and put in your new switch, but do not throw out the old one. It can likely be cleaned up. It is possible that you will not be happy with the new reproduction switch.

Good luck,

Ken

Thats a circuit breaker.. i run those also..
Make sure it is installed properly each end is marked,,,,, batt goes towards the battery source

The circuit breaker / fuse will not stop the car from cranking ....it will stop the car from running / as well as the lighting system will be inop

Problem solved. I took apart the switch and cleaned it. Works fine now. Thanks for all of the help

Is the side insulation in the switch is good shape?

Dirty switch contacts shouldn't make the cable get hot, although it can make the contacts get hot from high resistance, which can make the switch get hot.
