Retainer clip? Can you direct me to it at all, in Brattons catalog so i can see exactly what i need to purchase. The strap slides through a slot in the quarter panel, then screws to the door with two screws, through a plate that has teeth to grip the strap. Look in the parts books for the plate with the teeth.
You need the retainer clip.
My March/April '31 has the metal door stops in the front and the leather type on the rear doors. I am just aligning the doors so the front stops are temporary and the rear have not been added yet.

Is this the clip you are referring to??
The confusing part is that i have these straps AND i Have the steel arm door checks for the rear doors, I was not aware that the 31SW used Both???
I dont know why yours would have both. It must be a changeover period. If you have the metal stops, and never had the clips (as in your photo) then perhaps your car never had the rubber T straps originally.![]()
hmmmm and my late 31 SW has metal in the front and BOTH metal and Rubber in the back.... wonder what gives there?
Installing both makes no sense. What is the date of manufacturer? I would install only one. What does the door side look like? Does it have a place for both?
Yes, please try to post a photo. I would love to see that setup.
BTW, the original (non-metal) rear check straps were molded rubber with something like cotton webbing molded into it, so they would not be too stretchy. Are the new ones like that, or are they solid rubber?
