‘31 S/W Cabriolet w Mitchell 3-spd on BaT

Re: ‘31 S/W Cabriolet w Mitchell 3-spd on BaT

David, think this one will go high. Nice looking car, but the syncro mesh could be the deal closer.

Unfortunately it sounds like the Mitchell Transmission, although synchromesh, has the standard gear ratios. The option with the 15% over first and second is much more desirable.

think of it this way- wife or teenager can drive it.

It has a lot of things going for it. For one thing, it is retail red.

This is true but it still has that big *** gap between 2nd and 3rd. Main reason I got a Mitchell Transmission. The gap is gone and it makes it sooo much nicer to drive.

Don't get me wrong, it is nice the car has the Mitchell Trans, you still get the synchros and more leg room between the shifter and steering wheel for us long legged guys, it would just be nicer if it had the O/D gears also.

easy fix SAXBY- take your fat neighbor for a ride!

But.... Note that the $25,000 bid is almost $6,000 more that the previous bid. Sounds a bit suspicious to me. 'Alviscat' had bid previously, so maybe they just want to 'seal the deal'.

Ahh, Shill Bidding is just part of 'game'. Been that way since I was a kid, ...and likely WAY longer than that. Just a way of separating the boys from the men!! ;)

Re: ‘31 S/W Cabriolet w Mitchell 3-spd on BaT

Unless its changed bad thing about BaT is all high bidder gets is seller contact info to work out the details of the sale. BaT is out of it and collects no money from buyer.

- no guarantee high bidder will actually follow through at high bid price
- no guarantee seller will actually sell for high bid

Helped a friend get his father's TR6 sold on BaT last year so I tried to learn a little about it. Don't remember the buyer's fee but looks like they put a CC hold on 5% of high bid and if you win, tack on another 5%. So BaT is making 10% on each sale + listing fees? Yeah, wish I owned it too.

But isn't it still up to buyer/seller to follow through with sale? BaT doesn't collect high bid amount from buyer and transfer to seller.

Re: ‘31 S/W Cabriolet w Mitchell 3-spd on BaT

seller pays upfront fee of 350. this includes writeup and photos- good deal. you can also do it all yourself for 99.

then the buyer pays 5% on their credit card the minute they win. so BAT does very well on the buyer.

add in shipping and most always overpaying. also the buyers are a diff breed on there and often overpay. Similar to Barret J.

I was trying to buy a tr6 the other day. good driver that had some ugly aspects.....
most thought around 7k would have been the end and I was planning on flying into FL and driving home. went to 10k plus fees. Have seen much nicer for 10k.
