31 Rear wheel bearing seal

I usually turn the drum seal side down and drop it onto a piece of plywood a few times and the bearing removes the seal. Remove the retainer clip first!

Don't overlook removing the snap ring first! It's thin, deeply imbedded into the drum's hub and easy to overlook. You usually have to pry it out with two thin screwdrivers, which distorts it, making it non-reusable. Plan on ordering two new snap rings just in case.

To removed the clip, I like to "flatten" the seal a little bit where the ends are just enough to grab the clip with flat nosed pliers.

Before I instal one of those clips, I grind one end at an angle so that I can get a screw driver under it so that I can soring it out. Easy!

I drill a small hole then use a slide hammer with a sheet metal screw.
I've tried all these methods with varying but usually disappointing success. What I generally do now is dig around and pull out the spring and the rubber seal, then go after the metal with a pair of metal shears, visegrips and a long pry bar. Force over finesse, but there's a feeling of satisfaction when it's done. Destroys the seal in the process but so what.

And so far (knock on wood) I don't remember ever forgetting to remove the retaining ring first. Amazing how I remember what my dad taught me!
